\"Poker\" <\/p>\n

Poker is a card game played between two or more players. Each player has a number of “chips” (representing money) and is dealt two cards face down. The aim is to make the best five card hand using your own two cards and the community cards. The highest hand wins the pot. Players place bets at intervals determined by the rules of the specific game being played. Each bet must be at least equal to the total contribution of the player who raised it before it. A player may raise his bet again at any time.<\/p>\n

While the outcome of any particular hand largely depends on chance, the long-run expectations of the players are determined by their actions chosen on the basis of probability theory, psychology and game theory. In particular, the strategy of raising infrequently but aggressively when holding strong hands can maximize the value of a winning pot.<\/p>\n

It is important for beginners to play relatively tight at the start of their poker career and avoid playing crazy hands. This will allow them to minimize their risk and also help them win a higher percentage of the hands that they do play.<\/p>\n

When playing poker, it is important to study your opponents and look for tells. These are unconscious habits that reveal information about the strength of a player’s hand, such as a change in posture or facial expression.
