There are many different types of hands that can be made in poker, but the most common ones are pairs, three of a kind, four of a kind, straights and flushes. Pairs consist of two matching cards, Three of a kind are three cards of the same rank, a Straight is five consecutive cards of the same suit and a Flush is all five cards of the same suit.
